In recent years, Crumbl Cookies has taken the social media dessert world by storm with its signature pink boxes, alternating weekly menu, and oversized cookies. Given the brand’s viral presence all over platforms like TikTok and Instagram, the buzz around the cookies is hard to ignore. Originally founded in 2017 in the quaint town of Logan, Utah, the bakery has rapidly expanded to opening over 1,000 bakeries across the US and Canada.
Today, Crumbl keeps customers on their toes with its weekly rotating menu, featuring eight desserts that range from its signature cookies to delightful mini cakes and yes, even pies! On top of that, the menu often embraces seasonal or holiday flavors—like a Beetlejuice “Afterlife” cake for Halloween or a Peppermint Cupcake cookie for the holiday season. Each week’s lineup is always a surprise for us dessert enthusiasts to look forward to.
After months of hearing about the cookies and scrolling through countless posts, I finally decided to give these cookies a try. As someone with a major sweet tooth, I was confident I could provide a thorough review— with the help of my friend Evie, of course— to see if these cookies really lived up to their hype.
Crumbl Cookies has four Manhattan locations, but we decided to visit the store in Chelsea. However, my excitement quickly faded when I saw a ridiculously long line snaking around the curve of the block. When we finally entered the store itself, it smelt heavenly, but also felt small, cramped, and crowded, filled with people battling to get their hands on some of the popular cookies. To further ruin my first impression, two of the cookies we had desperately wanted to try— the Cookies and Cream Milkshake and the Candy Cane Brownie— were already sold out. We therefore opted to choose four others: Holiday Birthday Cake, Lemon Bar, Honey Bun, and classic Milk Chocolate Chip. The total came down to $21.99, which we felt was a bit expensive despite the huge size of the cookies themselves.
First up was the Milk Chocolate Chip, which was a thick and soft cookie packed with milk chocolate chips. While it was generously packed with chocolate and quite gooey, it was extremely sweet and felt slightly underbaked. You can’t go wrong with a chocolate chip cookie of course— but somehow this didn’t quite hit the spot and left me wanting more. Overall, I would give this a 6/10.

Next was the Lemon Bar, a bright and zesty lemon cookie smothered in a tangy, tarty lemon curd, and finished with a dusting of powdered sugar. Lemon lovers need not look elsewhere— Evie and I both felt that this one had a refreshing taste and lightness that kept it from feeling too heavy or sweet. The cookie itself was thick and buttery, providing a nice balance between the sweetness and sharpness of the topping. I will admit I had my doubts about this cookie, but I can now say with confidence that this cookie entirely exceeded both Evie’s and my expectations! I’d rate it a solid 8/10— it was easily one of the best cookies we’d tried.

Third was the Holiday Birthday Cake cookie. As someone who loves all things birthday cake, I went in with high hopes for this one. It was a rich, cake-batter-flavored cookie, topped with a thick layer of cream cheese frosting and festive Christmas sprinkles, giving it a classic birthday cake look. While I’m not usually a fan of cream cheese frosting, this one was surprisingly better than I expected. That said, it was overwhelmingly sweet, a kind of sweet that had me washing it down with lots of water after only a few bites. The cookie itself was also a bit too firm, and it lacked the soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture that most Crumbl cookies have. Overall, I’d give this a 4/10, as it fell short of my expectations and definitely was not one I’d reach for again.

Evie and I unknowingly saved the best for last, finally digging into the Honey Bun cookie. This cookie smelled heavenly; it was a cinnamon-swirled cookie coated in a glossy honey-butter glaze. The cookie itself was warm and comforting, with its texture being spot-on—soft and chewy. Even the glaze added the perfect touch of honey and sweetness without being too overpowering. Evie immediately declared this as her favorite, and I quickly agreed. We both felt that this cookie had the perfect balance of cinnamon and honey and perfectly mimicked the flavor of a classic honey bun. No questions asked, this was a 10/10. After an average lineup, this was a cookie that felt worth the hype.

So, is Crumbl worth another visit? After finally trying Crumbl for myself, I can say that the cookies are definitely unique and that their quirky flavors keep things interesting. That being said, the inconsistency across flavors makes it hard for the cookies to live up to their hype all over social media.
But I do believe that you’ll have to get a taste for yourself to see if they’re really worth it. As for me, however, I won’t be rushing back anytime soon.
